Lawrence County, Alabama is bordered on the north by the Tennessee River, providing a valuable connection to the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway. The county transportation options include airports, highways, railways and waterways. The county is accessible from major ports throughout the southeast and is bisected by U.S. Highway 72A/20, the major east-west route between Memphis and Atlanta.

Power is supplied to Lawrence County through major supplier including the municipal and cooperative distributors of the Tennessee Valley Authority, allowing for low industrial rates. Natural gas is also available. Telecommunication services are provided by AT&T and Charter Communications.
